Favel Parrett’sParrett's novel “Past The shallows “"Past the Shallows," published in 2011, and the film “Wonder “"Wonder" by Stephen Chobosky , released in 2017, illustrate the importance of stories and their significance in our lives as young people . Both works feature young characters, who must overcome adversity, and who have key, poignant familial relationships. However , only "Past the Shallows" explores the harsh experience of living with an abusive parental figure. These texts reveal the paradoxes, anomalies, and inconsistencies of human behaviourbehavior.
