The object of this work is the most outstanding sculptures of Vilnius and Oslo named by the respondents and the influence of these sculptures on the cultural life of the townspeople and the maintenance of cultural memory.
The problem is - do the most popular sculptures named after the respondents from Vilnius and Oslo highlight the symbols that evoke historical memory in public spaces? The aim is to find out what influence the sculptures in Vilnius and Oslo have on the cultural life of the citizens, on the maintenance of their cultural memory. In order to achieve the goal, the tasks of the work were set: to discuss the historical development of Lithuanian and Norwegian sculptures; to name the reflections of Lithuanian and Norwegian culture in the sculptures of Vilnius and Oslo, to determine how cultural memory is expressed through them; to reveal what events take place next to the sculptures of Vilnius and Oslo and how they support the cultural memory of the citizens; based on the research conducted by the author of the work, to describe the opinions of Vilnius and Oslo residents about the sculptures in their cities. Questionnaire, descriptive, comparative and analysis methods of scientific literature and sources are used for the analysis of the collected material.
