The Community Ofof Young Women
My topic is the community of adolescent girls. This community is girls ranging from the ages of thirteen13 to twenty-five. This community is about girls25 who face a day to dayday-to-day struggle with what to wear, who to talk to, how much they should I weigh, how do Ithey should do mytheir makeup, and how do Ithey can say no. The problem that this community is facing is the lack of confidence the girls have, due to the constant putting down by others, and the threat of being used or taken advantage of by men.
This subject interests me because I am a part of this community, and I face these problems every day. This subject should be of interest to many people, not just younger girls, because the problem affects everyone around the world, whether it be parents, siblings, teachers, friends, or significant others. This problem has been a serious issue for years, and it needs to be talked about and shown to the world.
What will be covered in the paper is how younger girls are told to dress womanly, to not be too fat or too skinny, dictated on how to act, speak, and who to talk to. The paper will talk about how girls travel in groups because they are terrified to walk in the dark alone due to the fear of being sexually assaulted or kidnapped.
