I will not respect my elders. I will not obey someone simply because they are older than me. Why should I? The elders in this country have done nothing but destroy it. They ruined the economy, the environment, and the society. Instead of fixing their mistakes or apologizing, they expect me to appreciate all that they’ve done. I’m sorry, but I won’t. I will not respect my elders. As I enter the workforce, I am aware of how terrible the economy is. AsWhen I joinjoined a political group, I amwas aware of how screwed up the system iswas. As I watch the news, I am aware of how awful the environment is. I am aware of all this, and I am enraged. I have been handed down a country of disaster, and now my generation has to fix it, and yet still, the generation that ruined it is asking for our respect. Before the internet, our society relied on our elders to teach us life skills and knowledge. However, for maybe the first time ever, the younger generations are more intelligent than their ancestors. We are the generation of change, and we plan on fixing the wrongdoingswrongdoing of the world. Because of this, I believe the older generations should be respecting us. ButHowever, they aren’t. They are still voting for electivescandidates and policies that only benefit only them. They are making racist remarks, and still hold the view that women belong at home with the kids. They don’t agree that climate change is real, and they don’t mind the problems with the economy, since they seem to be doing just fine. I am tiredsick and sicktired of it.
