The purpose of this experiment was to measure the rate of cellular respiration in germinating and non-germinating black-eyed-peas. The level of oxygen consumption is measured by using respirometers over the span of 20 minutes. Every five minutes, the oxygen level in each respirometer is measured to see the amount of oxygen consumed by the germinating peas, non-germinating peas, and glass beads. The report shows the results of the experiment and explains why different environments cause the peas to have different rates of cellular respiration. Each experiment recorded in the charts shows the different rates of cellular respiration in two different temperatures: one in 10℃ and the other in 25℃ (room temperature). The data recorded in Table 2 (25℃) shows that the rate of cellular respiration is much faster than the experiment done in 10℃. However, in both experiments, we see that the germinating peas have a higher rate of cellular respiration compared to the non-germinating peas.
