PholsophyPhilosophy has many different theories that explain many different thingsaspects that explain and influence our behavior. weWe also get some ideas as to how our enviorment environment affects our day to day decsionsday-to-day decisions. In this essay, weI will be discussing two different theorystheories, utilitarianism and egoism. bothBoth of these theriostheories are actions basedactions-based and can be applied to daily tasks. In this essay II will be discussing why utilitarianism is the more favorable theory in compariosincomparison to egoism. Ethical egoism states that, “ morally right action is the one that produces the most favorable balance of good over evil for oneself” (Beginning Ethics, YEAR, pgp. 82). Utilitaranism stateUtilitarianism states that, “the morally right action is the one that produces the most favorable balance of good over evil, everyone considered”( Beginningconsidered” (Beginning Ethics, YEAR, pgp. 81).
Utilitianism putsUtilitarianism places the majority’s happiness over the individual. thisThis is something that is very favorable for many people. I belivebelieve that if we use this theory in our daily descions thandecision making then we can take some selfishisnesselfishness away. “First, it is a relatively simple ethical system to apply. To determine whether an action is moral you merely have to calculate the good and bad consequences that will result from a particular action. If the good outweighs the bad, then the action is moral ()”moral” (CITE). I mean weWe use this every day. weWe always think about the consquancesconsequences of our daily tasks, if. If I ever thought about selling drugs, I would thingthink about the consiqansisconsequences, such as going to jail, or leaving my family and making them go thrughthrough a rough timestime. By think like utiliaramsthinking about things using utilitarianism, we are not just thinking of ourselfourselves, we are thingthinking about everyone that our actions are going towould effect.
