Catherine Price, the author of “How Not To Let Your Phone Ruin Your Vacation”, wrote a brief article on her beliefs of what actions a person should undertake to lessen the amount of time spent on phones. After reading her article, I was able to come up with the phrase, “Excessive use of cellphone: an addiction”. Her article incorporates her ideas and opinions that I found very thought-provoking. For example, in the second paragraph (page 1), Price states, “Phones are obviously useful tools... but too often a quick check can become an hour-long scroll session .. These few lines express how just one moment of using a cell phone can lead a person to completely attached to it. Furthermore, in paragraph 3 (page 1), she states, “It might be absurd to strategize how to set boundaries with your smartphone… the reward- a vacation that feels like a vacation- is well worth the work”. This means that a person should try to make an attempt to limit him/herself from engaging on the cell phone for long periods of time. At the same time, if a person doesn’t choose to stop this obsessive behavior, it might leadslead to an addiction. This is proven as the author exclaims in paragraph 3 (page 2) that the brain releases dopamine to repeat the cycle of addiction again and again. Also, the release of stress hormone, cortisol, can cause further damage to our health.
