In grade school, extra-curricular activities help students stand out from the rest. Dancers join Pandiwata. Singers join Glee. Performers join Balloons and so on. I wanted to be one of them. I wanted to make a name for myself, so I went for it. I tried out for Pandiwata, and I felt my first rejection. I tried out for Glee, and I got rejected once again. It went on and on until high school. I didn’t get accepted in a single club and it slowly made me doubt myself and my capabilities, but I still kept trying. Then in first year high school, I got accepted into Citizen’s Army Training (CAT). My first year was rough. Me and and the two other people in my platoon were constantly screamed at. We had punishments like standing still under the intense rays of the sun. There were many times that I wanted to quit but I would just tell myself that there’s a rainbow after the storm. That became my motto every single day.
