In Chapter 13 of Holes, X-Ray moves Stanley up in the line, because Stanley had found something and gavegiven it to X-Ray, becausesince he had been there the longest. and if he didIf Stanley had not givegiven the treasure to X-Ray, he might behave been beaten, or worse, not have any friends to help him through the years. If he wouldn’thad not have given the valuable treasure to X-Ray, then he wouldn’t have moved up. I think that he was moved due to how much X-Ray likes the personliked him.
