Obesity is rapidly becoming a major health concern in the United States that requires a multi-methods assessment and treatment approach to aid an individualindividuals to reduce weight. For an individual with severe obesity (BMI>40kg/m2) or moderate obesity complicated by morbid conditions that are not responsive to non-surgical approaches, bariatric surgery has been demonstrated to be the most effective and long-term treatment.
Also, bariatric surgery is considered asto be the first line of treatment option for an adult with a BMI of more than 50 kg/m^ who qualified for surgical intervention. However, the surgery “Is not suitable for all patients; therefore, certain criteria must be met when considering patient selection for bariatric surgery” ( ).
The use of bariatric surgery as a tool for weight loss has been increasing by anfor individual patientpatients with a higherhigh BMI and co-morbidities, with favorable effects, such as decreasing the overall morbidity and mortality rate.
