Vietnam, also called the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, is a Southeast Asian country of the Indochinese peninsula. Such a country together with Cambodia and Laos were occupied by Japan during World War II and after losing the war thanks to a Vietnamese nationalist movement, the independence of the country was declared. Despite being a newly independent country, it still had an internal struggles. It was a rich country rich in minerals and possessed a good position geographically in Asia, being the largest peninsula Indochinese peninsula. Was there really a series of events that led the United States to wind up participating in a civil war that it did not belong to, or it was it just a matter of interest?
