The stereotype I will be talking about today is that all black people are gang affiliated and are naturally bad. This stereotype has been present throughout society since slavery. The black people of America hasve been seen as horrible, ignorant, savages throughout their time. The American society often used this stereotype to make their wrongdoings seem legitimate and fair. They use thiese stereotypes often, which puts the black community in a horrible situation when it comes to being arrested, incarcerated, arrested and just prejudged as a suspect.

This stereotype was forced onto blacks when the American society needed a reason to make their wrongdoings seem fair and right. For example,
say if we have two different groups of people. Group oOne kidnapped gGroup tTwo from their country, branded them, brutally beat them, forced them to be slaves, raped their women, split their families up, and killed most of them. Group tTwo did not have any control over their lives,; every second of their lives, wthey hasd to obey or be killed. Now tell me which group should have the stereotype of thugs and savages. The American society in the 1600's, all the way to the end of the 1800's made slavery seem okay by making people believe that blacks were horrible people, savages, and not children of God. This lead to people to dehumanizing them and making them seem like they were not capable of being morally good.

This stereotype carries on in society when it comes down to being pulled over, arrested
, and incarcerated. An article sourced from the NAACP website lists statistics about the discrimination when it comes to criminal justice. African Americans are 1 million of 2.3 million Americans incarcerated. Based ofn statistics, when it comes to illegal drug use, there are 14 million whites who are caught with illegal drugs where there is only 2.6 million blacks. In the 2002 the fFederal crack cocaine law hasd nearly 80 percent of blacks sentenced where they are only 1/3 of the cocaine users. This statistic shows that based ofn history and stereotypes, blacks are facing a lot of inequality.

This stereotype has influenced society today in many ways
, especially in the police brutality. This stereotype thating many Americans believe stays in the back of police minds as they approach a black person. This leads to Trayvon Martin, Alton Sterling, and the other thousands of black people killed by police. Innocent people are being unnecessary killed by fear instilled in society due to stereotypesing. This eaffects my life because my mom has to live in the fear that my brother and I might become a hashtag. This makes me have to be scared and fearful of my life being taken or being incarcerated for a long time. This stereotype has lead to bigger things that are justill in full effect in today's society, and it's not okay.
