Most people do not consider scavenging to be an appealing profession, but, the writer used many languages and devices to make these activities more attractive to the readers. Nevertheless, the title “Turning Trash to Treasure” let alone showed us what to expect,; he allowed the readers to see his attraction and how he find his favor in it. On the other hand, this passage was based on the narrator’s interview with Sam Johnson, so dialogue took place in this passage as well. Proverb was used, whereas the writer was able to use that “One man’s garbage is another man’s treasure”, is not just a phrase but it can actually come true. In the passage the writer used comparison where as he compared himself to Santa Clause because of how it would make donations to those families in need, almost as if he was really Santa Clause. In the passage Sam made it pretty clear on how much money you can make, so he used statistics and figures that showed the readers that you can benefit from the collecting of trash. Examples wasere even used in the passage because Sam was able to show us not all his items he collect are used but, but that he can find new items fresh out of the box. Also throughout the entire passage you would notice that Sam’s tone towards everything was humorous, joyful and free-spirited he, showeding us that he loved his job. Lastly, simple sentences wasere used because you can easily understand what the passage was trying to say because everything was straight forward.
