The United States has used the draft in four military conflicts since the begnation's founding of wars. The rest of the time, the country has relied upon volunteers. Many countries require citizens to serve two years of military service, but should the United States do this? There are a lot conflicts that will come into play if they put the mandatory service on us, whether we vote for it, or Congress makes this law. The only time the United States will pick you if you get drafted. DBeing "drafted" means that they government picks your name when they do not have enough people for war and. tThe United sStates has used that method for older wars but not the newer ones because they have enough people. wWhy then do we need mandatory service, or what will the benefits for this be? My side to this is that we should not do this.
The United States should not make people serve for two years because many people are Christian. Christian families don’t want their kids to go off to war because that will go against what they believe in. For example, in the tTen cCommandments, it says “yYou shall not kill,” and it also says in Exodus 20:13 (ESV) 13 “You shall not murder…” These examples shows that the Christian family should not go to war because they would have to kill people if a war broke out and that would be considered a sin. Russia has the two-year military service, but when the CCCP was in power, Christian families were being killed for believing God and they were thrown in jail for believing in God. It says “Throughout the history of the Soviet Union (1922–1991), Soviet authorities suppressed and persecuted various forms of Christianity to different extents depending on the particular era”.”
Another reason why the United states should not make people serve two years is because many people don’t have had the strength to go through the training. For example, Tthree soldiers died in stateside training last week, the Army said Friday. A soldier in Ranger sSchool died Wednesday at Fort Benning, Ga., and another died Thursday at Fort Jackson, S.C. This shows that no matter if you are in war or not in war, there's a chance that you still can get killed Iin training.
